Wolfen-Waldau 2.0


After some years of restricted operations on the old layout mother nature got back its original terrain. Some ideas of reconstructing a new layout come into my mind indicating that all old premisses had to be examined. But at first the garden had to be cleaned up. This appears to be like that...

Mother nature could be very demanding from time to time...

However damaged all buildings rescued...

Something wistful but required - a cleaned up garden...

Like in real life at first there has to be a good planning that makes sense. in this special case we needed a good theoretical base for the horticultural company to realize.

The original idea was to stand up of the old layout to a level being convenient for the own spine. But after cxonsidering thoroughly I decided to go a complete different way: If I reconstruct a new layout I have to do it right. Therefore, I have to establish some rules: No radius under 2 m; no deflection angle over 15 degrees and long straight lines allowing long statiion tracks. After some attempts the following solution appeared:

Besides all the plant stones, layout tracks and installed bridges where ohe can be unfolded to get the opportunty of getting onto the lawn in a wheel chair however it should remain a. garden with wild lawn, trees and shrubs. After all an apple tree is 100 years old what should be untouched. It thanks someone for it with 250 kg of apples. It still continues.


However, one basic idea went along with the planning - this miserable cabling from earlier times should be a thing of the past in the age of powerful rechargeable batteries. In other words - the motto was - Back To The Roots - if you want to operate a garden railway, you should move your butt temporarily, even if it's just that a switch has to be thrown. Ultimately, the decision to engage in this hobby was exercise in the fresh air and not the creation of a circuit-engineering monster, which is only for the sake of physical laziness.

The colleague who helped me remove this wiring felt like he was on a bomb disposal team. The only connection that is still laid provides indirect lighting in the rear area, so that the vehicles can also appear in the right light when driving on beautiful summer evenings.
